Fatefully, the guitar would become intertwined with the sociopolitical upheaval — and musical revolution — of that decade. Today’s Gibson Dove Original goes back to the model’s roots, with maple back and sides, Sitka spruce top, and a longer 25.5-inch scale length that delivers crisp, clear tone and robust projection, while the square-shoulder body imparts warmth and balance. Classic Dove detailing includes a bone nut and saddle, double-antiqued multi-ply binding, nickel Grover keystone tuners, a traditional Dove truss rod cover, and the iconic pickguard featuring an inlaid mother-of-pearl dove with hand-engraved and painted embellishments. Finally, this particular Dove Original boasts an extremely limited-edition Ebony finish that plays off the abundant pearl inlay work to form an attention-demanding tuxedo-like aesthetic.
